In 1868, the parish of Kiltoraght contained the following places:

"KILTORAGHT, a parish in the barony of Corcomroe, county Clare, province of Munster, Ireland, 2 miles S.E. of Kilfenora. Carofin is its post town. The parish is 2½ miles long by 2 broad. The surface consists of hilly pasture, with bog, and some good arable soil. It is traversed by the road from Kilfenora to Ennis. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Kilfenora, value with another, £74, in the patronage of the bishop. The church is little better than a ruin. The Roman Catholic chapel is united to that of Clonney. There are a hedge-school and four day schools."
